Chevrolet LS3 Modified

Techspan have secured the first of their new engines for the Techspan  GT86 Wide Body Drift Car.

The new engine will be powered up to provide approx. 570 HP

The NEW LS3 is a 6.2L (430-hp standard engine) from the Chevrolet Camaro SS and the all new RWD Chevy SS. It is a fantastic combination of high technology and uncompromising performance. The LS3 crate engine comes complete, from the Chevy SS-specific oil pan to the ignition system. It also includes the EFI intake manifold assembly with injectors and throttle body, exhaust manifolds, water pump, balancer and 58X reluctor wheel . Inside, the LS3 is filled with components designed for high performance and longevity.  A high-lift, hydraulic roller camshaft delivers a whopping 0.551-inch of lift on the 2.16-inch intake valves and 0.522-inch lift on the 1.59-inch exhaust valves, enhancing the LS3’s tremendous airflow and broad torque curve.

Modified for more power and torque

Our new motor will undergo some modifications (LS Cam Upgrades) to provide increased torque and power.
These upgrades include:  Oztrack Camshaft, Dual Valve Springs with Light Retainers- Chromoly or Titanium, Chromoly Pushrods, LS7 Lifters,
LS7 Lifter guide trays, Head gaskets, Head Bolts, and Dual valve springs to provide some insurance in the case of one spring breaking.

Winters Independent Rear Diff

Our new car will undergo some further modifications including fitting of a Winters Independent Rear Differential.

Winters Independent Rear Ends are designed for the riggers of Racing and Drifting when independent rear suspension is used.
4.12 Ratio Ring and pinion. They are supplied with the Porsche style drive flanges (SR8219), Wedgelock LSD or Spool Centres and an upgrade option to use larger 1350 Yoke.

Jerico Dog Box Transmission

The Techspan Toyota GT86 LS will also sport a Jerico Dog Box transmission.

A dog box transmission is probably the type of transmission that every racing driver dreams of using at least once. It’s largely designed for racing cars because it’s meant to be quickly shifted from one gear to the next. You don’t even need a clutch to do it. The reason so many drivers dream of using one is because you don’t have to be gentle with it. Remember how when you learned to drive you were taught to push in the clutch, shift gears at just the right moment, then slowly let out the clutch and ease back into the throttle? That’s not the case here. Instead, you give the car all the gas it can handle, wait until the engine RPMs are sky-high, and then slam it from one gear to the next without giving it a second thought. The reason so many drivers dream of using one is because it’s fun.

It definitely has a practical purpose – because it is used so often in racing cars, it is designed specifically for that type of environment.
